Peeping through a window, she saw her boss. ‘I am coming to open the gate sir’, she told Laurent. ‘This might be a trap” Laurent said to himself. “Lucas could be inside, and maybe armed’. The gate opened, but colonel Laurent remained where he was. ‘You dressed like a commoner” Diane said to Laurent, teasing him. “I like your disguise. Let’s go inside, sir’. ‘No’, said Laurent. ‘Why? Are you afraid?’, the junior officer asked her boss, smiling. The colonel’s mood did not match that of the soldier girl. ‘Where is Lucas?’, he asked staring at Diane. ‘He is not here. Let’s go inside sir. It’s dangerous to stay here, the criminal’s estranged collaborators are in search of him too. They may mistake us for his guards and shoot us’, Diane admonished. ‘You called your sweetheart a criminal’, Laurent said as he reluctantly followed Diane into the house. Diane stopped and said, facing her boss, ‘Are you jealous too? If I may ask, why is it that every man who knows me wants to have me in his bed? Am I the only single girl in town?’. ‘Only a few girls are as beautiful and sexy as you are’, said Laurent, as he took his seat. ‘You didn’t wait for me to offer you a seat’, Diane said jokingly, as she too took her seat facing the army colonel. ‘I am sorry’, Laurent apologized. “I forgot I am in your husband’s house’. ‘I don’t like such joke, colonel. Please, stop it. If I am with Lucas, it is just for the sake of my job’, the pretty soldier protested, with her facial expression showing her seriousness.
Today we talk about Dancing in the Dark, a book by A.K. Anaelechukwu published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author A.K. Anaelechukwu to get to know him better and find out more about him on his book Dancing in the Dark.
Here below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write this story?
The book, like other of my works is the product of inspiration. And I have always believed that my inspirations come from above. I mean from God, if you like the word. Though, some of the stories in my books are, sometimes, mixed with my personal experience.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
I wanted to simply remind everyone that we are living in a society that tells not all of the truth. A society of secrets, be it as an individual, a people, or a nation. I wanted to say that we should always bear in mind that human beings are not always trustworthy.
- How you can constructively use Beauty in 2021, to succeed in life?
Beauty is beautiful. Beauty is a gift. It is also an asset. So, like every other assets, it can make a way for anyone who posses it. Talking about the constructive usage of it, I would say that it shouldn’t be used to intimidate people, or to the disadvantage of anyone.
- Which authors of the present and / or the past do you take as a model?
I am a bibliophile. I have read a lot of books. And, therefore, have a lot of authors that I admire. But authors such as, Oscar Wilde, Voltaire, Albert Camus, Chinua Achebe, Paulo Coelho and Chimanda Ngozi Adichie inspired me the more.
- Are you already working on a new novel?
Yes. I have some other works in the pipe line. God willing, they shall become books as soon as possible. And I am hoping that your organization, Europebooks, shall be part of it. More so, I have a good number of manuscripts, both as fictions and non fictions.
Europe Books thanks the author A.K. Anaelechukwu once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We really wish him the best of luck with his book Dancing in the Dark and for the future.
