Today we talk about A Rogue’s Revenge, a book by Siva Priya published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Siva Priya to get to know her better, to discover how the idea for this book was born and if she recognises herself into the female protagonist of her novel A Rogue’s Revenge.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- At what moment and how did you get the idea of writing this story?
Back in 2015 after I quit my job, I immersed myself in the world of Fantasy and Action novels, Exploring and consuming as many as possible. There were bits and pieces in each story that I felt could have been done differently. I was a member of an online writing community Wattpad, which has tons of stories of all kinds, written by armatures – just for fun or gaining experience. I have continually had a certain idea of how the main protagonists should be and asked myself why not try to create the ideal one that, I have always wanted to read in any novel? I wanted everyone to experience the thrill and excitement I feel every time I read a good story. I created the story – A Rogue’s Revenge – just so the readers will traverse a story of action-filled adventure and feel positive by the end of the journey.
- How much of yourself is there in the book main character?
Being brought up in the 90’s generation, where everyone around you is bound is say, ‘No’ for anything that was deemed as not worthy for a girl, I have tried to portray Evelyn Skylar as what my ideal personality should be. Taking risks in any facet of life, speaking outright, (though speaking outright has always put me in embarrassing situations) just coz it’s the truth, has always been a few attitudes that I feel every girl must-have. Also, one of the main points that I have wanted to convey was owning up to one’s mistakes, no matter the number of problems it might create. I believe being daring and owning up to whatever mistakes they have made would make life much easier. The other point that I wanted to portray is how boring and depressing one’s life is without having a purpose or direction in what can and cannot be done with their life. I wanted to go deep and explore the above point, which I suppose I will do in my next book.
- How would you describe your writing style?
English has always been my favorite language. Exposing myself to different forms of writing styles, I have understood that anything written in simple English was widely accepted. Although it lacks the articulate entrancement that traditional English novels portray, I have tried my best to write the story in a simple, clear, and convincing manner, wherein the reader is not bored but fully occupied and engaged either when following the script, or trying to read through an action sequence. I believe the best conclusion is only achieved when the reader is able to live through the experiences of the protagonist in their imagination. The acceptance of a story is only achieved when the reader envisions the plot as the script progresses and wants to leave the reality of this world and enter the fantasy just for a few moments of their lives.
- How was your first publishing experience?
Two words: Amazing and Satisfying. When writing the novel I was worried if the story is able to convey the emotions and thoughts that I felt, to the readers. Working alongside editors, illustrators, publicists of the Europe Books, I have had a wonderful experience of the publishing industry and learned different perspectives of publication. It has been a smooth and satisfying experience from the beginning to see the story in .pdf format, to follow the process patiently, and finally able to see the actual book, in the end, is a reward in itself. I thank Europe Books for realizing my dream of writing and publishing a novel.
- Are you already working on a new project?
Even before the idea of this book was formed, I have always been enamored in the world of Dragons, Demons, and Immortals. Initially, I had wanted to write a fantasy novel based on the above genre but got sidetracked into the world of Werewolves and ended up using my original storyline to finish this novel. Now I plan to go back to the story that I have invariably wanted to write. The plot and summarization of the characters are still in process. I plan to write this as a series and hope to get started on it by the end of this year. Though most of the main characters for this novel have been used to write my first book, I will have to come up with a new plot, that doesn’t end up the same as the old one. I am overwhelmed by the positive responses I have received for this book. Taking into account the negative aspects as well, I hope to produce a new series which will entrance the readers and hope they enjoy it as much as they loved reading A Rogue’s Revenge.
Europe Books thanks the author Siva Priya once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We really wish her the best of luck with her first publication A Rogue’s Revenge and for her future as a writer.
To you, my dear reader, I wish you to get involved in this exciting story where fantasy and imagination will keep you company on your reading journey.
