Today we talk about To dreams born, a book by Sabrina Charlotte Coronata published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Sabrina Charlotte Coronata, to get to know her better, what is the message she wants to send out with her book To dreams born, as well as what particularly life experiences find expression in her story.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Was the idea for this book born at a particular moment?
One summer many years ago, it came to me. And then it evolved. I wanted to empower children coming of age in a world full of challenges and opportunities. At the foundation of a fun story was music and singing, literature, food, adventures in nature, art, and conservation. Then I spoke to our dear friends about their bike trip around the world: “So, you’ve cycled across nearly every continent, from Zürich to Zürich, Bea and Peter; what do you think we should do to save our world? What is really going to make a difference?” “Stop eating meat!” came their resounding reply. And they were right. My family stopped eating meat right away, and my book gained focus. I recognized the essential fusion of our dreams for a world of beauty, and our yearning for bliss – connected to safety and peace for all sentient beings. How can anyone be truly happy while animals are being tortured and the environment destroyed? We all have a universal need to connect with others– and that is the essence of To Dreams Born. To reach our dreams in the highest light.
- What particularly significant experiences in your life find expression in your poems?
Ah, the poetry of my prose! I write fiction, mostly, and connect the fibers of written outpours to the power and goodness of folk songs sung around every fire and kitchen table across my life – both at home and at summer camp. The essences of those songs – the piercing aspect of language rendered potent as it is perceived through multiple senses – alongside the crashing and ‘gulping’ of waves against the bulkhead, or the hiss and heartbeat of a fire while you hold hands with those you love – deeply influenced me. The Jewish, Buddhist, Irish, Italian, and French threads of wisdom, passed down and woven between and through songs, during hikes and bike trips, through countless feasts, when we travelled – all of these experiences make their way into my writing. Language is at the center, music is at the center, love and connection reside in the very center. Chords and voices lilting harmoniously in concert. My Mom & Dad value camping and singing with guitars in hand – as well as their Nichiren Daishon in Buddhist practice – perhaps above all. That deep nurturing, those extraordinary influences have always sustained me and have infused my writing. I am ‘one’ with my environment!
- What is the message you want to send out with your book?
The whole point of fiction is to let the reader experience, and so the ‘message’ is almost a slight of hand *trick* hidden within the many nuanced layers of collective meaning. It is perhaps a bi-product, but not the goal. A bit like fire crackling into the night – it rises up almost imperceptibly. To reflect back the human experience into words that others can delight in or pause to reflect upon and learn from… this feels like the ultimate communion with Earth, with each other. I do believe that we can achieve and experience everything To Dreams Born sets out to illustrate. We can make choices to put nature and peace at the center of our lives. I have great hopes of seeing my book adapted for film, because the world is ready to reach its potential!
- How was your publishing experience?
I sincerely appreciate the superb team at Europe Books. They are talented and united and absolutely 100% in their devotion …to me as an author, to my work as something vital that needs to greet the world on the world’s stage! I was touched from the beginning by how well my manuscript was understood and valued …for its themes and energy…. about the sanctity of the rights of all sentient life on Earth, and about the importance of celebrating and nurturing nature and collaborating in peace. It has been an extraordinarily supportive working ‘environment’ – the communications have been stellar, sincere, optimistic. The hard work melts away when I consider how powerfully my manuscript has been revered, marketed, and shared with an ever-expanding readership!
- Are you planning to write more books on the same genre of writing?
I already have! Well, a similar genre. My husband and I actually co-wrote a book of short stories entitled “Hailey & Coconut~Adventures Together” featuring a piglet and his human friend who play, learn, and explore life lived together in harmony with nature. It will make young readers laugh and listen carefully, and it will make older readers exceedingly happy to revisit the fun of childhood. I will present the complete manuscript to my team at Europe Books this spring.

I quote the author when she wrote in our interview: “all of us can make choices to put nature and peace at the center of our life”. I add, this is the greatest gift you could do to yourself!
