Today we talk about No F’ in(g) Murder, a book by Mavis Christine Bedford M.A. published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Mavis Christine Bedford M.A., to get to know her better, what are the crucial themes of the story in her book No F’ in(g) Murder, as well as how she would describe her writing style.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What are the crucial themes of this story?
The absurd is central to the theme of this narrative and builds the magic of the play, shell shocking with verbal and active interactivity torpedoed at the spectators. The pedological aspect of the play is no mystery to anyone which is also central to the theme of the comedy of a warning of being taken for a sucker by internet scammers on the dating sites. The too good to be true approach to lonely people. Men and women alike. Most victims still feel that the period of illusionary love was one of the best moments of their life.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
I set out to inform the public at large on the risks involved in being ripped off by scammers and also on the workings of their thieving antics, as believe it or not, they follow a schema to swindle you out of house and home. There is a true love relationship in the comedy as well as robbery which of course is revealed little by little through illusion after illusion. Just like the love affaires on the web: illusionary passion towards their victims. What also comes through in the play is the obsessional feelings for one’s own swindler that faces up to no amount of reasoning or alerts by the victim’s family or friends. The play is completely non-racial as the heroine and the hero are of different colours and the most beautiful of human specimens in the world. Beauty, although put in the showcase, is not the only value in the play, as Universal Values are plugged to the limits as well and in so doing bring to light their existence to many who have never heard of them.
- How would you describe your writing style?
My writing style is punctuated by humour and on play on words in this comedy abounding in the absurd and witty remarks from the protagonists with double meanings. Building awareness through laughing and mocking seems to be my hallmark. However, I would say that I like to bring information to the eyes of the public at large through conversations and commando actions which exemplify the issues needing public reactions. The only style that I can contribute to all my writing is the pedagogical approach though humour and hard science fiction novels. I love delving into the supernatural and extra-terrestrials as well as bringing back the ghosts of the Middle Ages to the twenty-second century. This is what one of my fans wrote about An Infernal Relay Get-Away which is my first novel.
“I did enjoy this book! The cover is very enticing and interesting, the title mysterious and curious.
I really couldn’t put it down! It is so action-packed, pow-pow so punchy and fast. It is all happening there outside my bedroom window, the gem, the surreal people who come into the story, the plane, boat, military uniformed men, dusky handsome foreigners, and our blonde beautiful heroine Lucy.
The book is packed with imagery as well as being a fast-moving unstoppable read, unusual and original, it has stayed in my mind as being one of the better books I’ve read this 2020.
It would make a great comic book and action film, someone should make it so.”
- How did it feel to see your first book published?
I felt very relaxed and proud that the editors felt that my book was good enough to be read by a larger audience than themselves. I had had two positive replies to my manuscript within the space of two weeks. However, it took them over a year to publish the first book. What interests me most in my published comedy and my five other published hard-science fiction novels is the message or messages that they are carrying. One message is commune to all five books. This is: “boosting public awareness to Modern Day Slavery”. But although this is the central theme other issues such as the food chain breaking down as animals are dying of starvation through the lack of small game in their larder. Trafficking is a real plague on society afflicting hell on earth for its victims. This aspect brought into play my second book: Six Children for Sale. I feel this subject has become my mission in life and I would very much like to take my books forward to a very exciting action-packed feature film by a producer who believes in education for a better world. Let’s reset the Earth together and save humanity as well as all creatures great and small.
- Are you working on a new writing project?
Well, as my books and comedy are published, I’m turning my efforts towards finding a director to put my play on stage and in any place in the world. Secondly, I’m working with a scriptwriter to help seduce producers to longing to make a film or films of my books. Scriptwriting is a new venture for me, and I had to get outside help for this task. We are working on the first 20 pages to realize a teaser! New marketing tactics for me. Apart from that I’m condensing my five books into one big book which is proving to be a big job. I don’t really know why I got the urge to do that yet. Another job I’m involved in is writing texts for my village town hall such as my life in this secluded place which is my abode and gives me inspiration to write as it is bathed in beauty and silence. My books are: An Infernal Relay Get Away/ Six Children for Sale/ Ragdoll/ A Chip on my Shoulder/ A Deadly Invisible Shield. The comedy in French is called: Escroc es Croquez-Moi
