Today we talk about PLANET HOPE, a book by Abdulaziz Salah Al Dhaheri published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Abdulaziz Salah Al Dhaheri to get to know him better, what prompted him to the writing of his book PLANET HOPE, as well as the authors of the present and/or the past he takes as a model.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What is the moment that brought you to the writing of your book?
I started writing at the age of forty-eight. This late start is what led me to write this story. Since I was young, I have dreamed of an ideal world in which people live in love and harmony. During these long years, I discovered that this cannot happen, that only fools, and cowards believe in this. I think that these people have a defect in their minds or that they entrust themselves to a world that suits their situation. The truth is that man needs this struggle, and he is even forced into it in order to survive like other creatures that live on the surface of this earth. Were it not for these conflicts, we would not have achieved this progress in the areas of life.
- What are the messages you want to communicate to your readers with your book?
My message to readers is that life is hard, struggle is a part of it, and there is no luck for the lazy. Every sane, hardworking person has the right to obtain a better life through legitimate means, not through crooked ways. Unlike animals that struggle for food, water, mating, and land, humans have a long and endless list. It is a type of disease that requires treatment and its treatment is a positive outlook. And in parentheses: “The devastation that is happening in the world” is not because of religion, race, or color, but rather it is tricks used by malicious people throughout the ages to divide people to achieve their goals, with the encouragement of idiots whose only concern was and still is the search for excellence only. Finally, the conflict on Earth will not stop, and the only one capable of that is the Creator of the universe who created the differences.
- Do you see any resemblances of yourself with the protagonist of the story? What are they?
Yes, there is a great similarity. I am a person who lived the beginning of my life among a poor, uneducated tribe, isolated from the world. All members of this tribe have almost the same living condition. Yes, there are conflicts between tribe members, but their conflicts are primitive and rely on beating and screaming like animals. When I went out into the city where the educated and the rich were, I found another kind of struggle, actually a kind of art with a lot of planning. These people’s struggles do not involve shouting or hitting, but rather chosen words and sweet smiles. Suddenly, the victim discovers that he is inside a dark tunnel from which he cannot exit
- Which authors of the present and / or the past do you take as a model?
I loved John Steinbeck’s novels, the horror stories of Edgar Allan Poe, the descriptions of suffering by Indian and Russian story writers, and the creative, fantastical writings of some African writers, in addition to many story writers around the world that describe people’s conditions and suffering in a sarcastic way. Guy de Maupassant is still my favorite writer and my teacher who made me love writing stories because I felt this writer was honest, as most of his stories were created from one well, so I loved him. This choice remains my personal opinion, with respect for the taste of other
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
I’ve finished a novella called “Smooth Bottom,” which is still under review. The novel talks about a young man who, overnight, began to dream some strange dreams until he began to see them with his own eyes. The reason for his illness is the sudden suicide of his best friend Who suddenly decided to commit suicide due to the death of his beloved father, who had suffered a lot in this life. In one of these dreams, he saw a tall, huge man standing in the northern part of the Earth, placing his right foot on the island of Greenland and his left foot on Sakhalin Island in Russia. This strange man claims to be an investor. He spoke to the inhabitants of the earth and encouraged them in all languages of the world to commit suicide. In order to liberate themselves by working with him as partners in his planet spread throughout this vast universe instead of resorting to other countries that do not welcome them.
