Look in a mirror. What do you see? Okay, I know that you see you, but look closer. Look into your eyes. Look up your nose. Look into your mouth. Still can’t see any more than anyone else? That’s and mouth and throat and stomach, and lots of other appendages that you ignore until one of them gets sick- then you ask yourself, “What’s going on inside my
body?” You might just have an innocent hang-over from last night’s partying. Perhaps you’re battling through something more troubling, like a vicious bout of the Tangier Trots, brought on by something you munched during last night’s partying. Whatever it is that made you wonder what goes on inside you, let me dispel any ideas you may have that your bodily functions are being controlled by some biological, chemical, anatomical or physical reaction.
Doctors spend many years studying and remembering the size, shape, location, orientation and function of every organ closely packed inside your skeletal frame and conveniently covered by a waterproof coating we call our skin. Those years are also spent studying other, more noticeable stuff; your nails and hair and fingers and arms and legs and toes and feet and lots of other attachments that all require care and attention to keep them in tip-top condition. Even more years are taken up learning how to repair your body, both inside and out, when something goes wrong with it.
Today we talk about Inside, a book by William Pollard published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author William Pollard to get to know him better, where she found the inspiration to write his book Inside, as well as how our body has been changing through the years from the “Inside”.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write your story?
Having had a whole plethora of operations for various problems, I’ve always wondered what goes on inside. Having researched it I thought it a good theme to home in on.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
That your insides work together through some magical force that you were born with. It is a mystery as to why all your bodily functions rely on each other, but you can bet your trousers that if one breaks down, the others will soon follow.
- How has been our body changing through the years from the “Inside”?
The older one gets, the less one’s functions operate properly… Deafness, poor eyesight, bad backs, weak bladders – the list is endless!
- What was the first book you read and what did it teach you?
Can’t remember. It was probably 70 years ago… I’m knocking on the door of 75. I think it was a Hugh Hefner Playboy magazine that dad left lying around – read every page. That got me interested in books.
- Can you tell us more about your next literally work?
I’m working on a sequel to INSIDE, but before that I have written a twist to some nursery rhymes (e.g. Who stole Bo Peep’s sheep?)
Europe Books thanks the author William Pollard once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside him on the editorial path that led to the publication of his book Inside. We wish him the best of luck for his book and for his future works.
To you, my dear reader, to you, my dear reader, may this book inspire you with food for thoughts which can help you to make your life healthier and happier.
So, my dear reader, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!
