Saint/Sinner
In a world
Where my true reflection
Casts a spell on me
And there is a 50/50 percent chance
That beyond a shadow of a doubt
My shadow
Would reflect my true self
Allow me to be a Saint
And a Sinner
All at once
For if I remain true to my character
And above all else
I don’t belong here in heaven
Yet I got my wings
Icarus
Rise to the occasion
Free fall and take a dive
Into the unknown
Where redemption is redeemed…
Today we talk about Arc de Triomphe, a book by E.G. Schroeder published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author E.G. Schroeder to get to know him better, the moment that brought him to the writing of his book Arc de Triomphe, as well as how he chose the title of his book.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What is the moment that brought you to the writing of your book?
“In a time when the sun descents alone I ran a long, long way from home to find a heart that is made of stone. I will try! I just need a little time.” To get to know my demons and to banish them from my mind. I live with bipolar disorder. I am a gay man. I am a black man. And I needed to better understand the effects that this condition has on my life. I believed that by writing my thoughts down, by seeing it on paper it would make it so much more real and would, maybe it could grant me the opportunity and make it so much easier to better deal with these damning emotions, to face my demons and to see them for what they are. Robbers of life! Thus, “Arc de Triomphe” started out as me taking notes on my life, to be able to see my reflection cast back in words. “Arc de Triomphe” was never supposed to have developed into anything more than mere thoughts yet it did! And I am forever grateful that it took the time and did take on an evolutionary theory itself.
- What is the message you want to communicate to your readers?
That no matter who you are? No matter what you are dealing with? No matter the uncertainty? Know this! You are never alone! And if you should ever give up on anything instead of giving up on yourself give up on the thought the notion that you could or would ever give up on yourself! Whatever you believe in, whomever you believe in, however you believe. Believe that there is something greater than yourself something that makes the clock tick, tick-tock time never stopped! Religion, society, family and friends may contain you and, in some instances, try to prevent you from personal growth yet should you be honest with yourself they are not the deciding factor you are the X- Factor and if you have so much as purpose in your sights? Remember that you are greater yet!
- How did you choose the title of your book?
I did not! It chose me. “Arc de Triomphe”, the Rainbow, the HuMAN Spirit, Humanity…The Universe put me here was ultimately the deciding factor!
- How did it feel to see your book published?
10 Years ago, I could not have imagined that a few notes on life, on myself could ever evolve into “Arc de Triomphe” never in my wildest dreams could I have conjured up that this could happen! The moment I received the parcel with the books I told myself that this, is it! Opening the box and noticing the cover in print. I became so overwhelmed with emotions I did not think straight for a few seconds but when I recovered myself I remembered to thank God, the Universe and Earth for bringing me this far, for entrusting me with this journey. For if not for the Creation of Adam, I would surely not be in existence…and “Arc de Triomphe” would not have seen the break of dawn.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
Am I? Am I not? The process of writing is difficult but at once rewarding when you can see the story taking shape, when vision shifts in such a way that it has no other choice but to become a reality…If you can think it you can do it! Action and proof come from a thought the size of a mustard seed, when you water, when you nurture and give it a second thought be sure it will bloom…
Europe Books thanks the author E.G. Schroeder once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside him on the editorial path that led to the publication of his book Arc de Triomphe. We wish him the best of luck for his book and for his future works.
To you, my dear reader, may this story interest you and help making you reflect on the importance and the value of yourself and the person you are! And always remember that even in difficult times you are never alone and that you are worth it!
So, my dear reader, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!
