Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write your book?
Yes, I am retired and have often found some time to spare. And in my idleness one day the inspiration did appear. Why not to try and to write a book? The thoughts came alive in my head. But then, what should it be? Upon what subject should be my curiosity? Indeed, it was not that easy for a good few days, inspiration seldom comes when expected. But it did come into my head, the idea of a book about humans’ development. A book with the title “A Sinful World”, its appeal to the public should be good. Yes indeed, I did not find the inspiration, not knowing where to look. It found me and gave me the title for a book. And naming the chapters that came easy, the rest, well you can guess, it all kept me very busy. Yes. the composition of the chapters, that was something else. What made me do it? It’s hard to tell. It just happened line after line, my thoughts just followed in rhythm and rhyme. And in that way, I did it all the time. It was never at all something I planned. Yes, it just happened as if it had to be done, and with it I was burdened as the chosen one.
- What are the crucial themes of your work?
The crucial themes of my work are; The knowledge of what kind of a world are humans developing: when today the world is still very much in disarray. What could be said about humans’ progressive development over so many years, when today life for millions is a living hell? And all credited to the failures of world leaders, pursuing policies of death and destruction especially in wars, and the ravaging of nature, climate change they caused. Yes indeed, divisions are the cause, since humans have been divided there has always been wars. And unto the laws to keep the peace and order. That too has been nothing but a heavy steam roller. Crushing the masses unjustly, oppressive were the laws in societies. Yes, they were made to keep the people in bondage, especially women, the law always disadvantaged them. And even within the courts justice was lost, they functioned more like a circus. Not forgetting religion, superstitions, and beliefs, a fundamental characteristic in humans’ deeds. They too are crucial themes; they confuse humans like a bad dream.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
I want to communicate an awareness of the many millennia it took humans from the year of their arrival upon earth to reach this present day stage of development. The pros and cons of a very long and perilous journey which was often endangered with superstitions and fear. A journey which was never safe, especially in medieval times. And yet it was the journey humans made, generation after generation. Shaping the world bit by bit despite the many natural disasters. Yes, shaping the world however it is, as long as it was for the benefit of humans. Shaping it with whatever it is, as long as it keeps out the demons. Yes indeed, through heaven and hell humans ventured and survived. Hoping to reach Utopia, hoping to reach a paradise. With the belief that it was not much further, they did things which were unwise. Destroying and building again and again, with progressive development things had to change, new for old in everything, Slow as it was, it was exciting. Indeed, some of humans’ achievements have been miraculous, all of which has been obvious. So yes, humans could have created a much better world. For today’s carnage there is no excuse, and not of cause for bad policies, especially the assassination of reason, which had turned the world upside down with catastrophes a regular norm. Yes, this is the madness which is human. It is the message which I want to communicate to them. It is the message demanding change, hence creating a better world for all humans to live.
- How would you describe your writing style?
My writing style, ha ha ha. Yes, it is romantic, it is sexy, it has rhythm and rhyme and it is funny. It is what it is , a composition with style, and at the end of every line, it is finished with a smile. In fact, it is whatever you believe it to be, but it is fun, you can believe me. It has been considered unique by a publisher who had rejected it. It was the decision of their board of editors, although they liked it, it was not their material. So, what can I say about the style of my writing today? I never really thought of it. I just followed my pen from beginning to end, composing another sentence. But this I must say, it is not that easy. The words do not always appear that quickly. Some are slow, some are very slow, some appear in a hurry because they have nowhere else to go. Some play the game hide and seek with me, and my line takes some time to complete. And there are those which never appear, so I have to re-compose with great care. Indeed, it is fun putting the words where they belong. It is a sense of achievement, you really feel good at the end. So how shall I describe my style of writing? In a few words: In disguise, it is a blessing.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
In this very moment, I have nothing planned concerning writing. I shall see what happens during the new year.
