Today we talk about ABOUT KNIGHTS, WISDOM AND ETERNAL FRIENDSHIP, a book by Christine Libens published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Christine Libens, to get to know her better, if there was a particular moment that led her to the writing of her book ABOUT KNIGHTS, WISDOM AND ETERNAL FRIENDSHIP, as well as what brought her to choose Italy as the setting of her story.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write this book?
I found the inspiration for my book in a blend of my vivid imagination and my deep appreciation for art and history. My love for frescoes, with their timeless beauty and stories, has always fueled my creativity. Among all places, Siena holds a special place in my heart—it’s a city where history, art, and atmosphere come together in the most magical way. This unique combination of fantasy, art, and my passion for Siena became the foundation of my story, bringing my vision to life.
- What is the message you want to send out with your writing?
Through my writing, I want to convey a message that resonates across generations: friendship, loyalty, respect, and a sense of community are values that matter for both the young and the old. Intelligence should be celebrated and seen as something inspiring and “cool.” Most importantly, your background does not define you—it’s your choices, your behavior, and the way you live your life that truly reflect who you are. These values are at the heart of my stories, and I hope they inspire readers to embrace them in their own lives.
- What brought to choose Italy as the setting of your story?
The setting of my story is a blend of coincidence and intentional choice, of course influenced by the location of Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s frescoes.
- How did your passion for writing start?
My passion for writing started many years ago. As a language teacher, I often find myself writing and inventing stories regularly to engage my students. I’ve always loved telling stories and find joy in creating narratives that connect and inspire.
- Are you planning to write more books? Can you tell us more about it?
I have been writing for several years and have explored various genres in my work. For a long time, I lacked the courage to share my stories with the world. However, I’ve decided that 2025 will be the year I take that leap. I plan to release at least four books, and I’m currently putting the finishing touches on them. The first book is set during the First World War. It’s a fictional story inspired by historical events, focusing on a university professor of literature in Louvain, Belgium. When the Germans invade and burn down the renowned Louvain library, the professor flees with his family to England. There, he chooses to fight for freedom through espionage. The next two books are comical dramas centered around three wealthy, middle-aged women trapped in loveless marriages. Unable to divorce due to financial constraints, they devise a darkly humorous plan to kill their husbands by overfeeding them. To execute their scheme, they enroll in cooking lessons with a French chef. But as they delve into the world of culinary arts, the question arises: will their plan succeed, or does love truly go through the stomach? The last book I plan to release will be a classic Christmas story for children. It’s a heartwarming tale filled with wonder, magic, and the true spirit of the holiday season. My goal is to create a timeless story that families can enjoy together, sparking joy and imagination for children of all ages. Of course, I plan to write a sequel to the book “About knights, wisdom and eternal friendship.” The story is already in my head, I just have to put it on paper.
