This book is based on my 36 years of experience in missile design and management at RAFAEL, Armament Development Authority, as well as on research projects executed by my graduate students and myself and my experience as a consultant to over 30 high-tech start-ups and industries. Based on my experience during the first 12 years and in parallel with my R&D jobs, I initiated an elective two semester course on the design of hydraulic and pneumatic systems at Technion — Israel Institute of Technology. For this I was appointed a senior staff member at the department of Mechanical Engineering. Along the years that I offered the course, I upgraded it constantly. Over the years it was attended by about 2,000 students during their last year of studies for their B.Sc. or their M.Sc. degrees. As a supplement, the students had to choose one of the topics they studied as a final design project supervised by my assistants. The book contains many original aspects developed over the years by me, my assistants and two dozen graduate students, whom I supervised towards their master’s or doctoral degrees. The course was elected by the dean of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where I stayed for a sabbatical year as a visiting professor. There I trained the graduate students, who welcomed the combination of theory and practice. Later it was also adopted at Rafael for experienced mechanical engineers, most of them with M.Sc. degrees
Today we talk about Advanced Analysis of Fluid Power Systems, a book by Reuven Eshel published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Reuven Eshel to get to know him better, what prompted him to the writing of his book Advanced Analysis of Fluid Power Systems, as well as the audience he wanted to reach when he wrote his book.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What prompted you to the writing of your book?
My 2000 students at the Technion-Israel during my 35 years there, and at Mc-gill University-Canada in 1987, as well as my dear wife Dr. Ruth Eshel.
- Who is the audience you wanted to reach when you wrote this book?
Students in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering in there last year of their B.Sc or their M.Sc. studies, or as a reference book to engineers, during their career.
- How does the title of your book summarize all the experiences you describe?
The title describes briefly the content and my professional experience is described in the introduction as well as on the back cover of the book and the promotion brochure.

Not yet.
Europe Books thanks the author Reuven Eshel once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside him on the editorial path that led to the publication of his book Advanced Analysis of Fluid Power Systems. We wish him the best of luck for his book and for his future works.
To you, my dear reader, may this book capture your attention and interest. Like the author, I truly wish it will be taken as a reference book to engineers and students, during their career and/or study.
