Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Is there a particular moment in your life that led you to the writing of your book? What was it?
Yes, there certainly was a moment in my life where I was like “oh, I have to write this book” Firstly, this whole book started as a short scenario after I read tons of books about faeries that I eventually started imagining myself entering a world where faeries exist. Slowly, the scenario grew in my head into a story with a plot and characters. When I told my dad about this, I expected nothing more than a giggle or a joke but instead he told me that this could be on shelves and on screens one day. He encouraged me to open my laptop and just start typing. And so, I did for the next four years until I had something I could call a novel.
- What would say is the best audience of your book?
The best audience for “Kelsey in Ezleer” would definitely be people from the ages of twelve years up till eighteen years. I believe such an audience would indulge in a book full of imagination and adventure since people of such ages tend to have vivid imagination and a sense of creativity to appreciate the scenes described in the book, the emotions flowing through the characters, and the places I’ve created with great details. Another audience I believe my book would be perfect for are the new fantasy readers. My book has smooth world building and the descriptions transport the reader into a fantastical realm where faeries exist and they sip on flower tea in the morning. A realm where there’s different kingdoms and places to explore. A realm where you feel like you’re far away from reality and its troubles. In this book, you just sit back and watch as someone else lives, someone else struggles, and someone else mourns.
- What would you like to hear from them?
I would more than love to hear their thoughts and opinions on my novel. I’d like to know what thoughts roamed their minds as the plot crumbled to bits and pieces, what they thought of each character and if they saw themselves in any of them, did they find the plot-twists intriguing or did they expect them all along? I want to hear all about it. I want to hear them talk about the characters and the plot that once were nothing but a figment of my imagination. And most of all, I’d love to hear them say that they’ve enjoyed the book, that the simple words on a paper to someone else meant something to them.
- Is there a book you are particularly attached to and that has taught you something?
Absolutely, what kind of author has not a single book they’re attached to? I believe all authors have a book they hold right beneath their ribs, beside their heart and mine is “For One More Day” by Mitch Albom. Though I rarely ever talk about it, it is very deeply engraved onto my heart. I find myself always remembering it throughout my life, especially when I think of people I’ve lost during my life. This book has taught me to savour every second of every moment throughout my life and to appreciate the people and my surroundings before they’re gone and I’m faced with guilt and shame, wondering what I could have done differently if I still had them beside me.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
I am currently in a state where I have constant ideas brewing in my head. One second I’m working on a psychological fiction, the next second I’m writing a mystery novel. But as for now, I think it’s safe to say I’m working on a project that I won’t be abandoning anytime soon. Something I could tell you about this project is that it’s going to be dark, much darker than anything I’ve ever written. It’ll mostly be about death and the loss of a loved one. How a person grieves and struggles, sometimes even losing their grip on reality after a soul they once cherished is no longer around. But it’ll show a different perspective, one that people tend to ignore as time goes by and life moves on. The project is untitled yet but once it is, it’ll be fascinating.
