Why does it have to be the space?
How come nobody knows or understands?
Who is going to be?
When is the right time?
What is the “right time”?
Is it what we are leaving for?
Yes! How about choosing?
How about making decisions?
By the way, somebody get hurt?
In the process everybody gets hurt.
Does it have to be this way?
If only I had my way!
Who are they?
Why them?
Selfishly! Why me?
Today we talk about LOST SOUL, a book by Magogodi Dingalo published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Magogodi Dingalo, to get to know her better, if there was a particular moment that brought her to the writing of her book LOST SOUL, as well as if there’s a book she is particularly attached to and that has taught her something.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Is there a particular moment in your life that led you to the writing of your book? What was it?
There was no particular moment where I decided that I am writing a poetry collection. I had always written my thoughts down, it’s a continuous habit that I still practice even today. Some of the thoughts are coherent to be a poem and some are just thoughts.
- What would you like to hear from your readers?
I would prefer feedback that I am happy with but one need to accept that different readers will always have different intake on my work.
- Is there a book you are particularly attached to and that has taught you something?
This is a bit of a difficult one as I am attached to various books for different reasons. What comes to mind is Can Themba’s short story ‘The Suite’ . “Chronicle of a Death Foretold” by Gabriel García Márquez is also one book that I continually read. “Touch my blood” by Fred Khumalo. I find these titles quaint and could read them over and still find something new.
- How did you choose the title of your book?
I acknowledge that the collection is quite deep, and so the title lost soul has always been floating in my head, yet not particularly for this collection. Within the collection there is a poem called lost soul that in my view embodies the rest of the collection.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
Yes, I am working on a new writing project, it is a Novella and it is set on the late 70’s and early 80’s in South Africa.
Europe Books thanks the author, Magogodi Dingalo, once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside her on the editorial path that led to the publication of her book LOST SOUL. We wish her the best of luck for her future works.
To you, my readers, I hope this collection of poems will brighten your reading, excite you and allow you to gain food for thought to apply in everyday life.
So, my dear reader, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!
