Today we talk about My name is… INSPIRED BY TRUE STORIES, a book by Azra Novak published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Azra Novak, to get to know her better, the moment that prompted her to the writing of her book My name is… INSPIRED BY TRUE STORIES, as well as if she sees some resemblances with the 2 female characters of her story.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What was the moment that prompted you to the writing of your book?
I was not planning to write this story, actually I had a vision, and the first image was a wild cat. The idea came to me, and this is actually how my creative mind works. The creation of my story was a deeply personal and emotional process, guided by inspiration that came from within. The image of the wild cat, a symbol of both strength and protection, for some reason seems to have sparked something profound in my imagination. The fact that the story flowed out of me, piece by piece, with emotions and past experiences intertwined, showed me how art can be a way to process, reflect, and heal. After rewriting it and bringing the missing pieces together it has been a powerful moment of realization for me—seeing the depth and true meaning of this story. However, I hope this story will touch others in unexpected and meaningful ways, allowing them to connect with their own emotions and experiences.
- What are the crucial themes of your book?
A holistic view of personal well-being. Recognizing each aspect of our being: mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical. We are conditioned by our environment, and the story acknowledges the deep impact of our upbringing and circumstances, but it also carries an empowering message: we can change. I believe that self-awareness and understanding our true nature can lead to healing. The inclusion of Melina’s character, who comes to understand this, brings a personal and relatable element to my message. It shows how important it is to be spiritually healthy—to not only grow mentally or physically but to connect with the deeper meaning of life and align ourselves with love, which she defines as God. This perspective on free will and personal responsibility brings awareness that we are active participants in shaping our futures, despite what has happened in the past. We often mistakenly believe we’re being punished or are somehow at fault for our hardships, but, if we seek out the truth of who we are, we find that God is Love and offers us the freedom to make our own choices. In my opinion the highest form of love is the freedom.
- Do you see any resemblances with the 2 female characters of your book? What are they?
Melina’s character mirrors my personal journey of self-discovery and growth. Her realization is about accepting others as they are, understanding that not everyone will change, but also choosing her own path regardless of how others behave. Melina’s discovery of the power of choice is transformative. She’s learned the most important lesson: who she wants to be in this world, Melina has gone through a “tower moment”, which means that the old must crumble to allow for the rebirth of the new (true) self. It reflects the spiritual awakening that occurs when we let go of, false beliefs, and old patterns and rebuild ourselves on the foundation of truth. Another resemblance bears to Tiara and the realization that her life is not just about herself but about helping others too. She communicated the important message that “the key lies in your perception” is profound. It speaks to how mindset and perspective shape reality—by choosing to see the world differently, and also the important thing that I wanted to communicate through this story is that life is not about taking the easy way but the right way.
- How would you describe your writing style?
I would say simple and clear, I wanted to ensure that my message is accessible to a wide audience while still expressing myself in a creative and unique way. I see myself as a storyteller rather than writer. My focus was on the core message and the connection I wanted to create with my readers. I my opinion the storytelling is about conveying emotions, experiences, and truths, and that requires authenticity over perfection. I also believe that simplicity doesn’t mean lacking beauty. The balance I strike is between clear communication and personal expression. Every writer or storyteller has their unique way of writing and something new to offer, I think commitment to being yourself while telling stories is what makes your style special. In this abundant world there’s space for all kinds of creativity and expression, and every style adds its own richness to the spectrum.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
Yes, and I am very excited about it. I am writing a story inspired by a real life unfortunate event, a tragedy. However, my story has different ending, it ends up in saving people’s life but teaching them important lessons, that faith is more powerful than anything. Especially when all what is left to rely on is ‘faith’. The story also tells that heroes can come from unexpected places—people who may have made mistakes or lived imperfect lives. It’s a reminder that we are all capable of greatness when it matters most, that our intentions and inner truths are revealed in difficult times. The notion that everyone has a role to play and that small, seemingly insignificant events can have a profound impact on a larger picture. The story carries a message of redemption, the importance of faith, and the understanding that life isn’t about perfection, but, purpose, and the choices we make when confronted with adversity. Hopefully it will inspire people to reflect on their own lives and the roles they play, while also encouraging empathy and understanding for others, regardless of their past mistakes.
