Perhaps
A liquid heart is hard to bear
even if I shout no body hears
how many we are
lost in the structure of tears
this pain that I let in like a love decree
a wave like a fist dressed in impolite velvet
how to survive hating unresolved
the other side of everything is pain
in such a world of beauty and dread
absence and seduction rampant songs
and acid hands
Today we talk about Psychic Retreat, a book by Irina Filipache published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Irina Filipache, to get to know her better, if there was a particular moment that led her to the writing of her book Psychic Retreat, as well as if there is a book she is particularly attached to and that has taught her something.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Is there a particular moment in your life that led you to the writing of your book of poetry? What was it?
No, there is no particular moment, for me poetry is an emergent process forged by emotional intensities in my interactions with the world. I often times feel that I do not write poetry, rather poetry writes itself inside me as a way of expressing feeling thoughts, and sensations. Poetry comes from a nebula like psychic space that organizes my experiences in the form of images and metaphors, of non-liniar thinking under the pressure of an emotional intensity.
- What would say is the best audience of your book?
I think the best audience would be people that are interested in the interior pulsatory, fleeting life of our inner experiences, people that love reading poetry.
- What would you like to hear from them?
I would love to hear of any impact – feeling, sensation, association – of my poetry on them, if any, It is allright not to be touched, I would also want to know this, if my poetry speaks to them or not.
- Is there a book you are particularly attached to and that has taught you something?
I am very attached to the world poetry, I constantly read poetry, there are so many poets that I adore, too many to write them down, I will give you only several names, but there are many more: Wallace Stevens, Pablo Neruda, William Blake, the English and German Romantic poets, Nichita Stănescu, Paul Celan, Mary Oliver, David Whythe, Anne Sexton, Tibor Zalan, Jean-Pierre Simeon.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
I keep writing poetry, I am thinking of attempting to engage more with contemporary social themes, I will see what emerges, it is too early to tell if a new book is in the making. I am writing poetry out of an internal motivation, for my internal homeostasis.
