Today we talk about Read me when you need me, a book by Evelin Vihtol published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Evelin Vihtol, to get to know her better, where she found the inspiration to write her book Read me when you need me, as well as how she chose the title of her book.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write your book?
The story of the book started years or even decades ago. I like to read and I like to read a lot. When the average person reads 4 books per year, then I read around 100 books and more. Every time I read something inspiring, I wrote it down in my notebook in a short and simple way. My first idea was to write a collection of life cues and words of wisdom for my daughter, to help her to navigate in life. But in the middle of the process, I realised that there are many people around me who need to read them. I also noticed that sometimes just that one line can change your day, your bad mood or your life even. Sometimes we are too tired and too busy to read deep inspiring stories about life challenges and we just need to hear that one simple line to get back on track. So, my goal was to put these stories of wisdom in one simple, understandable sentence. In the end all those lines became like a poem – manual of life “Read Me When You Need Me”.
- What is the message you wanted to send out with your book?
Life is actually easy, but most of the time we make it complicated – with our emotions, expectations and assumptions. It may sound cruel to say life is easy in times of war and pandemic, but if we think about the line ‘’If you want peace, stop fighting’’ – then we realize that to stop war we just need to stop fighting. It doesn’t matter if the war is in our mind, in our relationship or between countries. So, the message that I would like to send out with my book is – Stop fighting – with yourself, with others and with your thoughts. Even when your life seems hard at the moment, just stop, relax, read some good lines and you will notice that life can be easy or at least you can take it easier. If you want to be happy, be.
- How did you choose the title of the book?
The title came to me by itself. In my circle, I have always been the person my friends call to ask for help or advice. Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them and to hear some simple life truths. I always say to my friends – ‘’Call me when you need me’’. Suddenly an idea popped up in my head – Read me, when you need me – and a deep understanding that there are more people in this world, who might also need that one encouraging line to move on from any hardship.
- How did it feel to see your work published?
To be honest, it’s a bit surreal. Maybe because I don’t feel like I’m the author of this book. These are not only my thoughts and wisdom, this is something that we all know, something our ancestors knew a long time ago. I’m just the person who reminds everyone in my own way. Like the wisest man Solomon said: “There is nothing new under the sun…” But as my mentor Mr. Monroe said: ‘If you know something, don’t keep it to yourself, make it your way and pass it on, because if you don’t write everything you know, it will die with you.’’
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
Actually, “Read Me When You Need Me” has three parts: first – ‘’If you’’, second – ‘’Sometimes’’ and third – ‘’Do not’’. So, yes I am busy with other parts at the moment, drafting and revising.
Europe Books thanks the author Evelin Vihtol once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside her on the editorial path that led to the publication of her book Read me when you need me. We wish her the best of luck for her future works.
To you, my dear reader, I wish this book will make you reflect on the concept that life can actually be easier than you think, making it free from fights within yourself, with everyone around you and towards the world. Let’s try to stop, relax and reading for example. And I quote the author by saying “If you want to be happy, be happy”. It depends on you!.
So, my dear reader, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!
