Today we talk about The Dark Elf The Return Of The Queen, a book by C. L. Davies published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, C. L. Davies, to get to know her better, what are the important thems of her book The Dark Elf The Return Of The Queen, as well as what she wants to communicate to the readers.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write this story?
My inspiration to write The Dark Elf The Return Of The Queen came from various places. From films, TV series, music, people and just every day things. Mostly the inspiration came from me writing a small story about me and my partner but in a fantasy world. I showed it to my collage teacher and he told me that I had to step back from the book and write it as if my partner and I were not in the book but two completely different people. And then three years later, The Dark Elf The Return Of The Queen is finished and complete. Then another two years and I have finally published my book which is such a massive achievement for me.
- What are the crucial themes of your work?
The most important themes within my book are:
- Alexa finding out who she really is.
- Understanding the family Feud.
- The realism that flows throughout the entire book.
- The constant struggles Alexa has with her brother, Link.
- Alexa finding her purpose as Queen of Brunuhville.
- Travelling in and out of different dimensions.
- Understanding Lena’s situation.
- Alexa and Lena finally seeing each other again after many many years.
There are many more important themes that are in my work but I am no spoiler for the naked eye.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
I had a very tough childhood with a parent that was an alcoholic and was very abusive towards me. I did get away from him 10 years later but I had and still have the trauma he has placed into and on to me. The way I escaped everything that was going on in my head from what he had done to me, was watching films, TV series and writing. Doing this, I was able to escape reality and dive into another world where I felt safe. This is what I am trying to communicate through my book. Yes it is fantasy and sci-fi based but there is a lot of realism in this book. What films, TV and books did for me growing up and still do now, I would like to help someone do the same. If I can just make one person, just one, feel like they can escape reality and find a sense of happiness in my book and give them hope that things will get better, then I know that my work is done and I have fulfilled my purpose on this planet.
- How did it feel to see your book published?
I was so unbelievably happy and overwhelmed. Something that I have worked so hard on since I was 17 has finally come to life. I have never been happier. But I cannot take all of the credit for my achievement. The Dark Elf The Return Of The Queen was small stories. Each chapter was a small story that linked to each other. If it was not for my fiancé, Sharmayne Gelston, who had told me to put them all into one book and make each small story a chapter, I would not be here today. She is my inspiration, my muse, to write books. Without her, I would of never have been able to achieve something like this. She has been my rock and my shoulder to lean on throughout this whole process and I am so entirely grateful to have her by my side through all of this.
- Are you planning to write more books?
This is such a great question. I am not planning. I have already written and finished the next 3 books to The Dark Elf The Return Of The Queen. But I have also been writing many more books and yes, planning to write many more books. And hopefully one day, get them published too.
