The road itself was not the easiest. Having reached the city of Inverness by plane, Megan then had another four hour journey by train. Fortunately, the magnificent scenery for which Scotland is so famous, made the time fly. She flew past lakes, rivers, bridges, picturesque beaches and ancient castles, all of them silently keeping their secrets. The stunning natural beauty beyond the train window caused Megan to immerse herself in deep thoughts of the future. Finally, it was time to get off the train and make her acquaintance with this strange new town—the home of her ancestors. As she got off the train, a light breeze caressed her face. Few people had arrived on this train, and fewer still were waiting to meet them, so she immediately noticed a man walking quickly toward her. “Miss McKenzie?” “Mr. Douglas?” “Welcome to Scotland, miss. How was your trip? Not too tiring, I hope, despite the long journey,” said the rather stocky, grey-haired man, who Megan guessed was in his late sixties.
Today we talk about The Magic Ring of Brodgar, a book by Katelyn Emilia Novak published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Katelyn Emilia Novak , to get to know her better, the moment that she found the inspiration to the writing of her book The Magic Ring of Brodgar, as well as is she has a particular book she is attached to and taught her something.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write your story?
Once I went to Scotland for a holiday and I was tremendously fascinated. I was so thrilled, also felt in my bones that this amazing territory hid mysteries and mystical secrets, which I believe is one of the reasons why authors from all over the world are attracted there. One might find it unreal, but it’s in my firm belief that Scotland has some magical places, and if an author somehow steps into one of those, they will definitely leave with a new story sketch for their book or screenplay. I guess this was what happened to me while I was there. North of Scotland and The Ring of Brodgar inspired me so much that the love story of Megan and Derek with all their drama and mystery was born there instantly.
- What would like to hear from your readers?
As every author would, I would of course love to hear their sincere thoughts and feelings about the story and characters. But above all, I am looking forward to the reviews when it is cinematized on the big screen.
- Is there a book you are particularly attached to and that has taught you something? What is it?
I am a bookworm and really love reading books in different genres. I can’t say that I have one I’m attached to, but maybe some favorites books I have such as “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman, Coco Chanel Memoir, and some books of positive thinking, psychology and philosophy.
- How much of you is there in the protagonist of your book?
I‘m sure that every author portrays some part of their own character to their protagonists and mine is not an exception. Megan is stubborn, a little bit of a perfectionist and a very strong girl who goes ahead despite the danger and unknown. I’m tenacious and have a very strong character too. But for sure we have a lot of different things as well. I also tried to give her the personality traits and values which I respect a lot in people.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
I’m working hard right now with the screenplays based on my books. Actually, there are 3 screenplays because as I see this project it will be a saga of 3 consecutive movies. I finished the second one and after Christmas I’m planning to start work on the 3rd one.
