Today we talk about MY WOMB IS AN ARTIST, a book by Céline Cervi, published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Céline Cervi, to get to know her better, what prompted her to write her book MY WOMB IS AN ARTIST, as well as how she felt to see her book published.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What brought you to the writing of this book of poetry?
I had started writing a novel with mostly female characters based around the world – New York, Brussels, Malta, Philippines – in places where I lived with politics and diplomacy as background and healing as main theme. As I started devoting time to my writing, the poems came with ease. I was in a place of healing as I was just recovering from a brain surgery. The poetry came row and uncensored by the mind from a place of pure creativity and communion with the Universe.
- What is the message you wanted to send out to your readers?
The main message is one of Peace, of calm and support. It is also a message of wonder and excitement for the world around us, and of the immense capabilities women are blessed with, from birthing to supporting their loved ones. It also expresses a longing for deep loving and sensual encounters.
- How would you define your writing style?
Fluid and clear, transparent almost… I would say a style that is direct and franc, as if there was no space between the page, the words themselves and my soul really. I hope a sense of Peace transpires from the writing. Just like life, there are moments of joy and excitement as well in the writing.
- How did it feel to see your book of poetry published?
This is my first book and it was sheer joy to hold the first copy…then came the initial touch with the pages and the paper itself. It was soft and it felt like home. I felt immense gratitude for the support I received throughout conception and birth of this collection of poems, knowing all too well that it was not a solo adventure.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
I am collecting words at present, words or metaphors that speak to me: “the sun was crying rainbows”, “it was raining honey”, “unfolding light”. I am reading more than I am writing at the moment. I like to observe and enter someone else’s universe, reading poetry and novels alike. I am back reading Sufi poets and about the Sufi path of seeking and wonder. It is probably a “collecting phase” before “harvesting” some new material. I trust it will unfold organically.
